Hatchet 3 (2013) (Decker Shado film review)
Wiki Article
Hatchet 3 is the 2013 horror film in the Hatchet series. It tells the story of Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.
The use of special effects is the main feature of the film. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of practical makeup effects as well as sets. This is different from the majority of horror films today that rely heavily upon CG effects. The film also has some really horrifying moments.
The cast delivers a strong performance, with Kane Hodder being the most intimidating villain. The dialogue is funny and clever enough to make it seem like an 80s slasher film. Additionally, there are several hilarious moments throughout that offer humor against the horror-inducing action.
The budget for the film was restricted to just $1 million. This means that many locations featured in the film are re-used from earlier films. One boat house is featured twice and most of the scenes feel like they're recycled from other films. It's almost like it's familiar (blog) to those who've seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2.
In the end, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be very similar to other entries in this series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of thrilling thrills and hilarious performances from its actors.
